Privacy Policy
Short version: we collect what we need to find you flights, we use trusted partners to do it, and we tell you how your information is used and shared. The plain-English read is below.
01 Who we are
SMSPilot (“SMSPilot,” “we,” “us”) is a flight-search service you use over text message.
You text us where and when you want to fly; we text back bookable options and a link to a booking page.
This policy covers our SMS service, our website at smspilot.app, and the booking pages we host.
By texting SMSPilot or using our website, you agree to this policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.
02 What we collect
We keep data collection focused on running the service. That includes:
- Your mobile number. Needed to receive your texts and send replies.
- The content of your messages. Your searches, answers to our questions, and any commands you send.
- Search details. Origins, destinations, dates, stops, and preferences we parse from what you write.
- Booking-page activity. Which flights you view and which agency links you tap.
- An email address — only if you ask us to email your itinerary.
- Basic technical data. IP address, browser/device type, and timestamps when you open a link or page, used for security and analytics.
We do not collect payment-card details. Booking and payment happen on the airline’s or travel agency’s own website — we hand you off and never see your card.
03 How we use it
We use the information above broadly to operate, improve, and grow the service, including to:
- Understand your request and find matching flights.
- Send you results, follow-up questions, itineraries, and service messages.
- Generate booking links and connect you to airlines and travel agencies.
- Operate, debug, secure, and improve SMSPilot and its features.
- Measure performance, run analytics, and understand how the service is used.
- Occasionally send relevant offers, travel deals, surveys, or product updates by text.
- Prevent abuse, fraud, and violations of our Terms, and comply with the law.
04 Service providers we share with
SMSPilot relies on a small set of trusted service providers to operate. We share only the data each one needs to do its job, including providers that help us:
- Deliver messaging — send and receive your text messages.
- Interpret your requests — turn your plain-English texts into a structured search.
- Source flight data — supply live flight results and booking links.
- Run the service — hosting, infrastructure, analytics, and itinerary emails you request.
When you tap a flight or agency link, you leave SMSPilot and continue on that company’s site under their privacy policy. We also earn affiliate commissions when you book through our links — that’s how the service stays free for you.
05 Admin sign-in with Google
SMSPilot operators sign in to our admin dashboard using Google. When an operator signs in, we
request only the three basic Google profile scopes — openid,
email, and profile — which give us the person’s name,
email address, and profile picture. We use this information solely to confirm the person is an
authorized operator and to display their account inside the dashboard.
We do not request or access Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Contacts, or any other Google data, and we don’t use Google sign-in data for advertising or share it with third parties. This sign-in is for SMSPilot operators only — people who text the service never need a Google account.
06 When else we may share
Beyond the providers above, we may share, transfer, or otherwise disclose information:
- With advertising, marketing, analytics, and other commercial partners, including, where permitted by law, for valuable consideration.
- To comply with the law, a subpoena, or a lawful government request.
- To enforce our Terms or protect the rights, safety, and property of SMSPilot, our users, or others.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or part of our business.
- With your direction or consent.
Some of this sharing may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under certain privacy laws. Where those laws give you the right to opt out, email us at [email protected] and we’ll honor applicable requests.
07 How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as it’s useful to run and improve the service, meet legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Active conversation state is short-lived — a session typically expires within about a day of inactivity. Search, message, and usage records may be retained longer in our logs and analytics. We may keep de-identified or aggregated data indefinitely.
08 Your choices
- Stop texts any time. Reply
STOPto opt out of messages; replyHELPfor help. - Access or deletion. Email [email protected] to ask what we hold about you or to request deletion. We’ll respond within a reasonable time, subject to legal limits.
- Don’t share what you don’t want stored. Only text us the details needed to search for flights.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information. We’ll honor applicable rights and won’t discriminate against you for exercising them.
09 Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and hardened infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, though, and we can’t guarantee absolute security. You use the service at your own risk.
10 Messaging rates & consent
By texting SMSPilot, you consent to receive automated and manually sent text messages from us at the number
you used, including service replies and the occasional relevant offer or survey. Consent isn’t a condition
of any purchase. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies. Reply STOP to
opt out or HELP for help.
11 Children
SMSPilot isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has used the service, contact us and we’ll delete what we can.
12 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “last updated” date above, and significant changes may be posted on our website. Your continued use of SMSPilot after an update means you accept the revised policy.
